Though in fact on a longer journey, beginning in London, the relevant segment of this flight is the leg from San Francisco to Seattle, which is forced (in "Rewind") to divert to Portland due to electrical/mechanical failure.
Chance ends up flying the jumbo, after the pilot is injured, with the assistance of the flight attendant, Laura, whilst her 'colleague' Winston tries to hold things together for the passengers, and in one case patch them up.
When all is said and done, the flight touches down safely, albeit at Portland International Airport rather than Seattle.
